We had a wonderful meal and gathering at my Old Order Mennonite sister's home... two huge turkeys and yams, homemade noodles, mashed potatoes, fresh bread and cranberry salad, pumpkin pies and cakes....

Tomorrow it's off to St Louis to do it again!

We'll do the 8 am church service and then drive up to Lake Tahoe for an overnight stay and come back on Friday evening. It's an annual tradition for us and it's lots of fun.

Half the day with our family and my brother-in-law's family at my sister and brother-in-law's house, then the other half of the day with our children at my daughter's in-laws with their family, then a weekend of bargain hunting!

Re: Your Thanksgiving Plans

It'll be a simple day for us. No traveling this year. We'll be missing our oldest son and our grandchildren. I'll prepare a small meal and then maybe we'll take a walk on the beach.

Re: Your Thanksgiving Plans

Our kids are scattered during the holidays trying to spend time with both sets of parents and grandparents (and inlaws for my oldest), so we are having a big meal at home tonight for everyone.

We're not doing traditional Thanksgiving food. We're having barbecued ribs, chicken quarters, baked potatoes, corn, etc. They will be eating turkey and the trimmings everywhere else and I know how it gets old after a couple of times, -- so I wanted to be different. I never do anything normal!!

Tomorrow, me and Jon, my mom, my sister, and her husband will go to Pickwick Inn to eat their Thanksgiving buffet.

Re: Your Thanksgiving Plans

Told the boys we'll have dinner at noon, exactly. They laughed at me. We never have dinner on time! Hey, there's a first time for everything. Isn't there?
