Now a kilt is a different story. That's a cultural thing. It's been going on for generations. But even those men don't wear them all the time, right?
And men dressing as women has also been going on for a long time. Just like homosexuality has been going on for a long time. And cheating on your spouse has been going on for a long time. Doesn't make it right. But I think that there are a smaller percentage of men who dress in women's clothes than there are men who cheat on their wives, or men who like other men. Am I right?

What I'm saying is, it may be the young generation that introduces this not the older ones who would never wear a skirt. the younger ones are always looking for something to make a statement and to stand out as going against mainstream culture. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if it catches fire out here in the public schools. It may be somewhat more traditional where you are from.

You COULD be right, Mark. We've certainly seem some things become acceptable in my life-time that no one would have ever thought acceptable before (abortion, etc.) I hope and pray that it does not. But we've also seen fads come and go. So I just hope this is one of those passing fad things.

Do you know why they wear them? I am just curious.

Some cuz of the statement it makes.
Some because they're comfortable.
My best friend and her husband used to fight over his kilt (not bad fight....but play fight...they have since purchased a few more to share...lol). FWIW, it's not cultural for him at all. It's a comfort thing.

Isn't that strange, because a lot of women wear jeans instead of skirts, because they are comfortable.
I saw a boy today with bell bottom jeans on. And they hung real loose on him. But that may have been because he looked really skinny.

Of course they have to be below the knee when sitting.

Skirts are out for men now, but before any man wore slacks, they wore skirts and dresses:
From an article entitled The History of Trousers, by Andy Gilchrist, we read:
Quote:
“About 1760 most men begin wearing breeches, a tight garment worn from the waist to the knee with stockings covering the rest of the leg, "Britches" was an informal word for breeches. Prior to this men were wearing various form of skirts and dresses (but that's another story).”

Mark, Mark, Mark, I'm glad we're friends or my feelings would be really hurt.
If men's skirts catch on anywhere, it will be in your neck of the woods, not here in Redneck Tennessee. I doubt that we'll have to worry about that here. But if a praise singing man shows up in one, I'll let you know first so you can make a NEWS FLASH!!!
