Congratulations! Very good!
Today I'm doing one of those money saving chores that is a LOT of hard work, but worth it in the long run. I am butchering deer. I have a sinus infection and am TIRED but this has to get done in a timely fashion. So, here I go....(I usually butcher the quarters after my husband skins and quarters them and then later he grinds hamburger and we wrap altoghether as a family).

We did this once-- and will never do it again. It's simply more stress than I can handle, because I end up doing it all myself since hubby has such a weak stomach he can't handle working with the raw meat. I pay someone to process the deer. It costs $55 per deer... which ends up averaging out to be about $1 per pound of packaged meat. I can't buy any type of meat for that price-- and It's worth it to me to not have to deal with it myself.

I don't blame you, There is no way I'd do the whole thing by myself!! I got one quarter done....5 to go. (Yes we have 6 quarters! LOL! All of it given to us as my husband didn't get one this year.)

Re: How to Save Money
Yall are better women than me! I could not handle dealing with all that raw meat. I
I have a problem when I buy lots of gound meat- putting it away.
I went to Belks yesterday and pick up a pair of pajama pants for my husband reg. price was 24.99- they were marked down to 9.99. They had a 40% off sale, and I got a senior citizen discount of 20%. So I paid 5.09 for a 24.99 pair if pj pants.

Re: How to Save Money
OK, I've been gone a while and haven't had time to make through all of the pages on this thread yet (I'm working on it!) so I don't know if these links have been posted yet, but these websites have saved me tons of money.
If you are a big reader (like I am) and don't have the money to spend on new books, this is great. I will buy books also from thrift stores, but this way you have much more luck finding the books you want. I haven't spent more than $2.50 for a book in over a year.
The first is Paperback Swap. (I actually found out about this site from one our AFF members signature!) http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php?n=2
The next is SwapTree. You can also trade DVDs, CDs, and video games at this site. http://www.swaptree.com/WebFrmUserHomePage.aspx
All that you pay at either website is the postage for shipping your item!

Re: How to Save Money
D - thanks- My mother is disabled and reading is one of her pleasures. I usually purchase her books used on Amazon- but this will be better and I can offer her books for trade. When I get home later this week I will get the ball rolling.

Cool! I'm glad I shared the info then! I know it has been really great for me, I have saved a ton of money this way, and you are right, it solves the problem of what to do with the books when you are through with them! I would usually wind up taking them to Goodwill, and while I like to help out and donate whenever I can, you really start feeling like you are throwing money away. So this is a great alternative!

Ok, I am SOOOOOO excited about the Paperback Swap website. I joined and put on 17 books and already two of them are spoken for - that I will mail tomorrow. That happened while I was at church tonight. This is awesome! I can't wait to order some new ones to read. I read a LOT, and I tend to spend a LOT at Books a Million; Eddie will be thrilled with this process. I have probably 50+ more that I need to list, but I have to go through them.

Re: How to Save Money
Sounds like the paperback swap is great for some here! I probably won't use it since I work at a library and check out most books there.
I just got done butchering. Whew! I'm beat and ready to call it a day. Tomorrow we grind and package hamburger.
