This is what I did today.
I boxed up a book I sold on half.com to mail it out. I paid maybe .25 for it and I sold it for $38.00. (I usually get between 2-4 dollars per book so this was quite a bit more than usual.)
I cashed a rebate check and a check for an old toy box I sold. $9.80
I returned the items I was not allowed to use coupons for the other day at K-Mart for a refund of $14.61. I then rebought the items and a few others. $65.58 was the total precoupons. I spent $27.50 for a difference of $38.08.
I went to Wal_mart and got some things at normal price. Gasp! But, I did get three items of clothing for $1.00 a piece (regular $10.00). Savings of $27.00. I bought some hamburger we mix into the venison burger to give it some fat. I got 4 5 lb tubes of hamburger and they were reduced! (Yay! Great find at the right time!) They were normally $8.96 each marked down to $6.27. Savings of $10.76. Total savings at WalMart $37.76.
Then, I went to the new convenience store and they were having some good specials. Free milk ($3.48) Free potatoes (.39) Donuts on sale, saved $2.00, Free Capucinno (.99) chicken sandwiches, saved $3.56. I wouldn't normally buy the cappucinno or the sandwiches so I won't count those. So, I saved $5.87 just by stopping there on my way home and I have some snacks for lunch too.
So, today I saved $81.71. Plus I made $47.55 on a book and rebates and a sold item. I spent three hours shopping plus the time and gas on rebate and book. A basic profit of $129.26 for 4 hours or so of my time. $32.32 an hour give or take some.
I am not trying to brag (well, okay, maybe just a little

) But, seriously, I'm writing this to show, mostly people who are stay at home moms or people who work part time like I do, that this does pay off. I used to work 30 hours a week and it was cutting into this so now I work 20. Since I don't make a lot of money an hour, I get paid to do this and have my time free if I need it. Fortunately, my husband works to pay the bills, because this is not liquid cash. But, it is cash that is eventually liquid when you are not buying items at full price. I have ALOT of shampoo now, quite a lot of health and beauty aids, cereal, boxed type food.
