do you have an air purifier?

we just bought one last week b/c we've been suffering with all kinds of respiratory issues - husband was even hospitalized with pneumonia. Well we werent getting any better and it was worse at home - so we got an air purifier...it made all the difference. We could tell a difference the next morning. Sure we had our original ailments but we are getting better b/c we arent dealing with the additional irritants in the air.

We got one for a large room at WalMart for like $60 and a small one for the bedroom for $20-$30. I can tell a drastic difference. I wonder what exactly is in the air we breathe....

I have two of them and they run regularly. I also use sinus rinses and that helps quite a bit. I think that especially when the heat comes on I really start having problems (Nov is usually my month for fighting sinus infections). I'm glad you have found somewhat of a solution. This is a constant battle for me (and my son). I do a bunch of quirky little health things....pretty much like I do with saving money that keeps me up and running.

ILG,

I really like your thread. It's been rather educational lol

I have constant sinus issues too and I have ashma. I have someone come over and clean the house but I have to have to leave and air it out. I cannot take the chemicals. It bothers my lungs terribly. Pureox has a new product called "Green" or someting like that, and I can honestly say, it causes NO effects on me physically.

I also bought a humidifyer (warm) which has been an answer to my prayers! It's done wonders for my sinuses! Often when you get sinus headaches, It's your body telling you 2 things: your full of toxins or you are dehydrated. I hope you are drinking plenty of water

Re: How to Save Money

I used to get terribly sick every time the heat was turned on for the first time. I took allergy shots for dust mites-I was very allergic to them- for about 5 years. They really helped with the quality of my life. Since I retired, I have not had one sinus infection, or any colds. Maybe I was allergic to work!!!!!!

Thanks StMark,

I drink water like it's going out of style. When I feel sinuses kicking in, I usually rinse a fair amount and take Emergen C, and try to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. That often keeps me from having things too extreme. I try not to take decongestants or use corticosteriods but I have used both in the last couple of days. I do do some things to detoxify as well. These things all help quite a bit!

Can you remember the exact name of that product?

The other day I was at work and fighting this and my supervisor came over by me and had a lot of perfume on. I was really having a hard time talking to her. People often think you are just whining so it's hard to ask them to not wear perfume or whatever.

P.S. I have four humidifiers in my house!!

My son and I have been diagnosed as having dust mite allergies. Did you have shots for 5 years? LOL! Or am I misreading that?

Then you know what the problem is?? Its the cold air. Cold air will cause severe sinus problems. you need to move out of Penn. and move either to FL ,CA or AZ. Southern Ca Is best. the average day temp yr round is 71 degrees. Az is wonderful but the summers are killers! FL is too swampy.
the vegetables are the best out here(west) too because of the soil. many things grow fresh and yr round

Those humidifyers are a royal pain to keep up with but they are a life saver are they not???

Do not tell this to my husband. He would probably want to go! My home is here.
