Re: Road Rage at it Best - Good Grief!

Tell me please, how many of you have ever wanted to hurt someone who pulled out in front of you, forced you off the road, stopped suddenly in front of you, went very slowly in front of you in any zone, or any other thing that these people do on the road?

To be honest I have. I do not agree with it but I understand it and I understand where JD is coming from. These people cause accidents and never pay the price for it. Someone got upset and shot at one of them. Does the actions of the one justify the actions of the other? No but I certainly understand him. Why? cause I have wanted to do what he has done a few times.
If you have never been put out and upset with other drivers then Thank God. Just don't ever move to Tampa, FL or Phoenix, AZ. I can only really speak for these two cities. Although driving through Atlanta, GA was never a picnic and lots of drivers there that got on my very last nerve.

Re: Road Rage at it Best - Good Grief!

Under Mississippi law, let's see how "justice" would not be all that just after all.

For the citizen who shot the idiot, Mississippi could prescribe:

Aggravated Assault - Manifesting Extreme Indifference to Human Life - Felony
- 97-3-7 (2)(a)
Maximum: 1 year in County Jail or 20 years plus $10,000
No Minimum

or;

Aggravated Assault - Manifesting Extreme Indifference to Human Life -
with Weapon - 97-3-7 (2)(b)
Maximum: $5,000 and/or 30 years
No Minimum

or even;

Attempt to Commit an Offense - 97-1-7
Capital Offenses: 10 years plus $10,000
Other Offenses: Punishment prescribed for crime itself

The shooter could be charged under one of these statutes.

With such an "open and shut" case against the villain, the shooter would likely be prescribed the maximum penalty under whatever statute he is convicted by.

Then we would feel good about putting another "criminal" behind bars, after all, his actions could have killed someone for crying out loud!!

So we could possibly have a situation where a good citizen was having a bad day and got fed up with being so law-abidingly passive while the idiots run rampant, is now sent to county jail, or more likely, the State Pen when all he did was refuse to be the silent victim.

As for the idiot driver whose actions also could have killed, why he may even get the villain's home and personal belongings in a civil suit, adding insult to injury!

Adamantly, I repeat, I hope the shooter is never caught! Let God handle this guy-- not our court system.

NO WAY MAN-- don't you see? I am being forgiving!

I am attempting to point out the utter "unfairness" of this whole mess.

I am sorry Cindy but I have driven through TEXAS, the normal man and woman may not be idiot drivers but your state highway patrol are certainly not the best. Of course my attitude toward them could be because they pulled me over, and I know it was only because I was the out of state driver. Everyone else had a TX tag but me, we were all doing the same speed and I was the one they pulled over.

Dude, our troopers rock. Of course they did, they can get a Texan any day. But they really like catching those foreigners.

You say you wouldn't shoot anyone, in this scenario. If you'd be willing to shoot anyone for any reason other than to protect your family or yourself from harm, you need serious prayer. This is most definitely a Christlike mindset.

If someone I loved were killed by another driver's negligence, I'd surely be angry...I may even wish them harm...but I'd be wrong. Let's turn it around...if my loved one were negligent and killed or hurt someone, would I agree that it would be justified for them to be shot? Many years ago, I pulled out and hit another car. I was negligent. Should I have been shot?

Getting fed up and shooting someone isn't justified in any rational person's mind. Should we all go around shooting people who anger us? Do things we don't like? Again, this certainly isn't a Christlike mindset.

Sounds to me like there's way too much of you in control and not enough of Jesus.

Wow!

For the umpteenth time, I say again: SHOOTING THE NEGLIGENT DRIVER IS NOT WHAT I WOULD DO!

How am I reflecting an un-Christlike mindset in being empathetic to the shooter?

The idiot driver showed extreme indifference to human life when he drove off from what he did, without ensuring safety.

He didn't even call 911 for the victim(s) of his "negligence."

But he sure called 911 after he was shot!!! Hmmmmm.

When you had your accident, I bet your response was different. If so, you're probably not an idiot driver!

One of my original assertions in this thread is that most of the time, idiot drivers drive idiotically most of the time. If there is a pattern of the idiotic reflected in his driver's record, when does it stop being "negligent"?

Killing is not something to be taken lightly at all, but sometimes it is necessary.

There is a vast difference between saying "I can sympathize with someone wanting to get even" and saying "I can sympathize with someone shooting the driver"

It was a vastly disproportionate response
