I would not smile at that fact. I find it sad to say the least. Unlike many, I do not drool at the prospect of the UPC or any other church group, failing in any way.
If this film flops, as did all the other ones he was called to do, does that mean that God called him to make bad movies nobody will ever see at the expense of many of the church members?
One cannot always blame the preacher for people leaving. If God is calling the pastor to lead a different direction and people don't want to go that direction, one cannot blame the pastor.
A church split isn't a bad thing. Our last church split show 40 percent of the member leave the church. Most were influential members. Since the 18 months after they bade adieu, we have accomplished projects that congregations five times our size are not able to accomplish. And we are still growing our church.

The upci has gone after a lot less. They are ignorant to do so. But when money and property is involved, religious principles seem to dissapate.
When cases get that far, spiritual ethics usually take a backseat to greed and power.

I have been a lurker for quite sometime around here, but felt the need to join when I saw how cruel you all have been in regard to Richard. Yep, he's my cousin. I know he's eccentric as his mom and dad were always that way. That's how he was raised. However, is that all you guys know to do is find some juicy junk to talk about and then shred the person? Wow, how sad. I won't be on here much anymore, but felt the need to say something.

I have a great deal of respect for Sister Marilyn.
That woman did an awesome work in SF and gave her all. I've always loved and admired her. She was a such a soul winner and went to a city that many men would not go to and when they tried to they failed.

Just like everybody on here is who they are mostly because of their childhoods. You can say no, but in all honesty deep inside you, you know you are a product of your parents. And so is Richard.
And by the way, they have the last name spelled wrong, the family name ends in a "y".
I just don't understand why you people think you can go around calling people crazy and nuts and "off his rocker" and the administration not do anything about it. If he were on here, you all would be scolded by the admins about such name calling.
Do you even know what the word "Christian" means??? apparently not.
I think the majority of you are a bunch of non=Christians. And I feel sorry for you.
