I definitely enjoy being a father.
But, if my children continue to live in a lifestyle that I feel is wrong, I can't continue to put my stamp of approval on it.
Scripture teaches us clearly that God will not "wink at ignorance forever, but commands us all to repent".
From this I can discern that God will send His spirit to draw us into truth, but if we refuse to move, and it's truly false doctrine that we're embracing, God will not put His stamp of approval on it, and will withdraw His presence.
So, I can't say the analogy is solid in this case.
