That's the essential difference between "then" and "now." Back then we didn't consign all other believers to the pits of hell and we feared and trembled to climb into the Throne and pretend to exercise the judgment that belongs to God alone.
Today, what the UPC has become really is rather "cultish" in that they insist that their own soteriology, based upon their misapprehension of
John 3:5 and their "Water & Spirit" doctrine, is the only valid view of salvation. Thus, they seek to subordinate all believers to the rule of man and not the rule and judgments of God.
