I think that joyfull and on key sounds like they go hand in hand if you want my earthly opinion.

Everyone who has breath should praise the Lord BUT even David in the OT found those that were skilled in singing and playing instruments to offer praise. Those in the praise team are meant to lead the congregation in praise, not to be the only ones who praise Him. It would be difficult to be led by singers who are off key and musicians who can't play their instruments.

I absolutely hate face time. I wish everything I did could be done BEHIND the scenes. NO SIR, pastor has to always find something that puts me in front of people. If not him then the assistant pastor. I try very hard to stay out of the lime light. Seems others have different ideas.
And let me do something and FORGET to tell them I don't want anyone to know and you can bet it will be told. I HATE that. I think I need to have another heart to heart with the pastor. I do not like people knowing when I do something for the church. It is no ones business.

From the music I'm hearing in churches now you don't even need a good voice nor be able to carry a tune. You just need to be able to scream into the mike and make more noise than the drummer and base player.

i rather agree with the original poster, let it be done unto the Lord. They are not talking about playing, but singing. And praise singing at that-which is usually done in a small group.

Thing is , if a church IS so materialistic that they are placing beauty queens on stage on purpose, why would you want to be included in any part of the platform at all ? Why would you even want to go to church there ?

Bro Sister...off key in a mic at the top of yo lungs IS NOT a joyful noise. it's an annoying noise.
Misicians are to play skillllfully Singers should be able to carry a tune.
Ability to sing harmonies is nice quality too.
A heart that is in love with the Savior is much desired also.

Praise singers should definitely be able to sing well - I think the Lord expects us to strive for excellence! Everything He did was in order. As for looks, all that's required is a neat and modest appearance; we definitely don't go for "Barbies". But that doesn't mean they have to be unattractive either!

There is nothing wrong with someone singing and making a joyful noise but when you are going to be blasting that joyful noise out to the whole group it would sound a lot more joyful if it blended well with the music and other voices.
Makes me thankful that our church has no shortage of talented, spirit filled, sincere people.
