I believe it's one of resignation in knowing perhaps the Truth as presented is not "rock solid" and their positions can be refuted.
Most of all, IMO it's a scare tactic used to manipulate and maintain a network.
It also eliminates any honest debate .... It's simply... I am doing this for your own good ... thank me for it.
We are left with the thought that ETERNITY hangs in the balance if I wear a pair of knee-length shorts or don't shave my God-given beard.
Also ... It's rooted in fear ... I've got friends who now resort to this line of defense .... knowing that leaving the message would mean being in the untenable position
of being in unchartered waters. One openly told me ... who would he preach for?
