Actually as far as "spontaneous" goes most Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches leave some room for that in worship. Some Apostolic groups are picking up on this kind of worship and I think its a good thing. By this kind of worship I mean a kind of blending of Charismatic and Contemporary Christian music.
I can only speak for the Oneness Churches I've personally been in but to me the shockamoo thing gets old fast. I like songs that are sang directly to the Lord for worship.
When I saw Kim Walker doing this I felt the glorious spirit of Jesus Christ bringing me to tears. Of course I have felt that once in a while from something "Pentecostal".
Back in the 70's I fellowshipped with a group called The Ceylon Pentecostal Mission. They were like their name implies very strong in Pentecostal doctrine but had heavily Charismatic worship. They sing in tongues a lot! It was very wonderful. I have never experienced greater seasons in worship than those days.
I guess a "dead service" must be in the eye of the beholder.

I guess so because my wife happened to enjoy it.

 Love that!
Love the singing slave, too. What a great vintage video.

Re: Spontaneous Worship
Well again I suppose we are proving its a matter of preference. I like these music threads and usually say the same things on all of them.
Hows this? I'll take all the good Pentecostal/Charismatic praise and worship songs along with their "repetitions". Having started out in the Jesus Movement where this kind of music started I admit I am biased toward it. It related to me more than the old Hymns by far.
I have watched it evolve from simple Choruses like "Seek Ye First" and "They Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love" and branch out in various directions.
I actually prefer those early songs and the way we worshipped back then. But once in a while someone comes along like Misty Edwards that still really stands out. This video by Kim Walker I also enjoyed much.
They are not IDEAL for what I would want for worship in the Assembly but they are excellent for watching on the Net or worshipping in the Car.
For many of todays youth what we see on this video IS going to be the way they worship. To me its still better than the old hymns and Gospel style at 55 years old.
But again I just like to remenise about good music and if all that was available in Jesus Music were the hymns and so forth I would get used to it. I have sang them before and if nothing else were out there I will sing them again.

Scott thats it Bro! It epitomizes the music I loved back in the 70's and 80's. Pure and simple. I know theres some still out there but getting pretty rare.
The Guitar sounded great. A real blessing.
