What if the roles were reversed? Saints come and go from your churches, they say they're "not being fed..." You live in a city of millions and you run about 25 or 30 steady maybe up to 100 when things are really kicking.

You visit a larger church nearby and count 20+ people singing in the choir who used to go to your place at one time or the other. You meet people in the stores and about who are attending churches in other denoms and they look happier and healthier than you'd ever seen them.

Is this pastor a "shepherd" or a "goatherd?"

I think a lot of times what people call discernment is just evil surmising.
He fell into another man's sins at that same point in time. Ended up driving all the saints away. Had the hardest time finding a new pastor to take over; ran off several candidates, a few left in fear.

When he finally turned the place over to a new guy, the new guy kicked the old man out along with his entire family. It was sad. I took no joy in the comeuppance, in fact it angered me a bit.

But it was my attitude that was the problem all along. My way of looking at things. My way of saying things (I used to be positive and perky). I was "hindering revival..." I was sleeping with my own wife and no one else.

Apparently, I was doing everything wrong.

Hopefully you learned your lesson?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
