I would be interested in hearing why you think its not of the Lord?

I for one love music, all kinds of music, but I wonder sometimes the danger of worshiping the music over worshiping the Creator...
Music can move emotions without there being any praise involved... a sad song, a heart wrenching song, a dancing song, so many different songs can provide a myriad of emotional responses....one of my favorite songs is sung by Brooks and Dunn call Written in Red (I think) this song makes brings a tear every time I hear it but I don't consider it worship even tho it is talking about the Word of God and the Words of Jesus Christ...
it is just interesting to see the emotional response of those who respond even here considering the sacredness of worship to the moving and sometimes beguiling spirit of music...
It reminds me that Satan himself was the song writer and choir leader in heaven and even in worship the carnal can seem spiritual but the spirit of the music can be as earthly as it seems heavenly...

just thinking...but this my opinion only....
The biggest problem I have with this is when you say our emotions can be stirred with no praise....
Although that CAN be true I dont see why it would fit Misty more than any other psalmist of any other style? When I see the video's of her and see young faces worshipping the Lord I am thrilled!
I know how over the years I have heard the Baptists and other non Pentecostals say the very same thing about Pentecostal shouting. Its all emotion and nothing to do with the Spirit!
I know how I myself am moved to praise and worship when I hear her.
I would challenge you to find ANY of the lyrics to ANY of Misty Edwards songs that are earthly and carnal.
Hey meathead, this is the same singer that everyone is using for "Cardboard Testimony" me included, so go eat something deep-fried and shaaadduuuup already
BTW, thanks for posting on my facebook, it meant a lot while in the slammer er, hospital. I cracked up when one of my single choir members thought you were witty and inquired about you...I had to scare her off before Michelle opened up on her
As far as you guys who don't like her..fine, cool, we get it...but to start saying she thinks she's sensual or that there is a bad spirit, come on dudes, you ain't that intuitive. (I don't know what that word means, it just sounds good)
You know you all sound like those moro---um, people, who attribute drum beats to Zulu with-doctors, hence, no good beats in church
BTW, FERD, I don't like the little singy thing she does either, but just because it's annoying.
that little hickup thingie is a major criteria for me listening to someone. I dont like it when anybody does it. its irritating.
but if you like her and you think hicuping at the end of every line in a song is purddy then more power to you.
She prays. that is wonderful. some folk I love pray a lot too. some other folk pray a lot.. Like LS and brother Teklamarian.
Prayer is awesome. However it isnt the only thing one should use for validation of a message....or messanger...
God bless you one and all.

If a Oneness Pentecostal woman with uncut hair and wearing a dress were to sing one of the songs Misty sings would that make all the difference to any of you who object to the "spirit behind" the songs Misty sings?
If the message of the song glorifies Jesus and causes us to worship Jesus, I'd say the spirit behind the song is of God.

Well we sang our own rendition of the song used for Cardboard Testimonies- but the one who made that song more memorable I think is Kim Walker.
She doesn't do the hiccup at the end, the one that Ferd hates so much.
BTW-I like Misty Edwards for the All Consuming Fire better than this song.

I think we're quite capable of determining what is good music without the bias that you suggest.

I'd like to think so as well but I know it is not always so.

Are there any that still sing Amazing Grace,The Old Rugged Cross, or I See A Crimson Stream Of Blood?
