Actually that is good for the IRS> Last minute filers have a greater chance of ommitting a valid deduction. Valid deduction is one that is allowed and for which you have supporting documentation. If you itemize, you can deduct mileage to and from a charity where you donate time. But you have to keep complete travel and mileage records.
School teachers for example can deduct non reimbursed employee business expenses #2106. (the extent to which they exceed 2% of AGI)

The IRS disallows deductions which don't have proof. I also know some folks claim to be audited and drag a shoe box into the IRS office when audited. The IRS also requires keeping complete and accurate records which means organized.

I used to be reeeeally bad. I mean years late. I'd file the extension, and the extra extension, then it would sit. And sit. I actually had an IRS agent come to my house. Not kidding.

I am reformed!

True!!!
Ron. you can say that until you turn blue. it doesnt make it true in the least.

There is "federal" law that requires everyone to pay taxes.

in addition to that there is Supreme Court decisions that state that income tax is both legal and constitutional.

Stop doing "google research" Bro. Its bad for your health!

*sigh* So last night I completed my federal taxes and nearly shot my computer. Uncle Sam says I owe $635. Unbelievable. I don't have it, wasn't expecting to have to pay anything. Guess I'll have to call the tax man and see what we can work out.

I just can't believe I owe. Here people who made more than I did are getting between $500 to over $1,000 in refunds ... plus they received that stimulus check back in June ... yet I'm owing $635, and I didn't get the stimulus check because it went to my stupid school loan.

Just a little frustrated here on tax day.
File anyways, I believe they can work out a payment schedule but you have to file to avoid penalties.

BTW I am on disability but I have other income from interest and farm properties. It does not add up to much though. The sad part is it's rather confusing to do all that, it's not just a 1040, so I go to a tax guy. I paid $170 dollars to find out I owe the IRS $6 dollars but will be getting a state tax refund of $1 and you can be sure I am making them pay me :-)

Can you give me some Cliff's notes here? I do not, not, not have time to watch this video right now (I'm writing a paper as I post here...) but seriously...do you even understand the ratification process? I'm really trying to figure out how something can be ratified but not ratified if you get what I'm saying. Explain...
