No mention of doctors.

How would it be "honoring" or "trusting" God to use a doctor?
1. It does not say all sickness or from what the sickness was caused

2. It does not say instant miracle every time - just "will raise him up"

3. It does not say God will not do this work through medicine

4. It does not say without exception

I have had the privilege of being prayed for by a doctor (even OP) before he cut me with the knife. It was James 5 all the way.

1. It says "any sick among you".

2. Doesn't matter. Believers in this scripture sometimes are forced to claim that death is a healing.

3. It says what will happen. It says the prayer will heal. The fact remains: it doesn't always happen.

Oh, and it doesn't always work even when God "uses doctors".

DEATH IS the ultimate healing... I always pray with that in mind. It is not our will that is in question - but whether we can accept His will.

How is it dishonoring God to see a doctor? I don't see any hint of that anywhere in scripture.

It shows that you don't believe His promises. Suppose you asked your husband to take out the trash. He says OK. Then you go take it out yourself. Wouldn't that be dishonoring him?

As I pointed out, God's "Word" is specific in what to do and what will happen. And there are many other scriptures that support miraculous healing, and His protection. You (being a believer) can drink any deadly thing and you won't be harmed. You are a believer, aren't you?

Stephen mentioned accepting God's will. If it is God's will for a sick child to die (and receive her "ultimate healing"), wouldn't it be wrong to try to thwart God's will by getting an insulin shot for her? We should just accept His will! Let the child die. She'll be in a better place, after all. But if it's His will for her to live, let Him work that miracle. We shouldn't "play God"!
