"Steamables" - frozen vegetables sold in bags that can be steamed "in bag" in your microwave. I can catch them on sale at the Super Walmart for $1.00/bag. Regular price - $2.00 / bag.
Canned tuna - store brand, 99 cents / can.
Whole Wheat bread is better than white bread.
Don't eat after 6:30pm.
Drink water instead of soda or those high fructose sugary colored water drinks.
Walking 30 minutes a day is better than not exercising at all.
These are things that an economically challenged person can take into consideration when trying to lose weight.
To say that I can't lose weight because I am too poor is just nother excuse.
You encourage personal failure when you believe your own excuses.
Im not trying to make excuses its just that I have tried those other diets that I mentioned and lost those nagging pounds but they keep comming back and it drives me nuts.I used to waigh in at 115lb at 5"6 when I was younger and my family thaught that I neede to gain but couldnt. Now im 42 anddont want to get any bigger than I am but I think its my age fighting me.

I just read a quote from Dolly Parton that I thought was common sense wisdom:
How did you learn to stay thin?
"I went on every diet there ever was. I did Optifast at UCLA. I was monitored and lost thirty pounds. I did the Atkins diet, the Scarsdale diet—I did everything I could to get the weight off. And the way I've maintained it is to just eat small portions of what I like. I don't eat diet foods or drink diet drinks."
Anything left that's still an indulgence?
"Potatoes are my weakness. Au gratin. Fried. Hashed. Every diet I fell off of was because of potatoes. You just have to watch it when you are this short and have an appetite this big."

I agree!! I love food and sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach and I also eat fast because I always feel rushed during the day and I dont think thats a good idea to rush with your meal because it doesnt give your brain enough time to realize your stomach is full. Then the idea of leaving food on your plate because of all the starving children in the world, you feel like its a sin to waste food oh dear the mind set goes on and on.LOL!!

It's also a waste if you eat it and your body doesn't need it.
Drink water instead of soda or those high fructose sugary colored water drinks.
So I take it that eating after 10 pm nearly every day is not a good thing then? LOL
Also, have you seen the commercials where one person says to another:
"Do you realize that drink has high fructose corn syrup?"
"Yes"
"Well, you KNOW what they say about that don't you?!"
"What? That it's made from corn?"
