if you want to supply a scientific study that looks at the American population, adjusts for income level (because income has a direct correlation to weight) and compare that to UPCI churches, then lets talk.
Until then you are basing this on antidotal evidence and as one man once said, antidotal evidence is no evidence at all.

Completely agree.

I don’t mind a discussion about "us" in fact a healthy discussion about the fact that we ought to be talking about weight in our churches because it is an issue, is perfectly on point as far as I am concerned.
But that isn’t what is happening here. Somebody has pointed out, that Pentecostals are fat because our standards won’t let a woman go to a gym. Good grief.
Keith has done some research and discovered that Apostolic more than others are self medicating their sorrow with food.
And I am in denial because I make pretty regular trips to Wal-Mart and see very large people wearing stuff that wouldn’t clothe a church mouse. (They certainly aren’t Pentecostal.
This would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad.
PS, some of our fellow posters in this thread don’t even like the traditional Oneness Pentecostal Church even a little bit. They are just using this as a convenient chance to take a pot shot.

This is exactly true.

Very small sample size from a small demographic.

I am not saying you did that. In fact, I would never say that about you personally. We dont agree on that point, but I know you well enough to know you wouldnt do that.
Not everybody in this thread has that same respect.
I do think you are off on the notion that our problem is different than the greater culture.
It is an AMERICAN CULTURAL issue.
We do agree that we ought to be talking about it, we ought to be dealing with it, we ought to better than the American Culture.
We ought to be working to heal our people who have addiction issues.
Without question I believe all of that. But lets not go down the UPCI IS MAKING ME FAT road. That is a lie.

This is true again. Come visit here in Toronto, Canada and I'll point you to thousands of fit, healthy Oneness Pentecostals.

You don't want any standards at all. Do you draw any lines in your life? Or is anything fair game with you. Can you tell me what you would consider a sin? You want to mock standards and people that are faithful to church? Do you pray or fast or do you have some sort of reason to not do that, as well as not dressing modest. Is your pastor in agreement with you, or is he helping grease the skids to your eternal destination? Do you even have a pastor? I think you need to wake up and realize that God demands Holiness both inward and outward. Would you wear a bikini to church? Why would you wear it in the world? Sorry, but you need to pray through and let God convict you of your sin.

What are the liberal heroes Billy Cole and Jack Cunningham doing about the FAT factor?
