Reading the Word while fasting can make you more sensitive to understanding as you are reading.

I know that when I am studying and not understanding some things, I will pray, dedicate a fast for a time of studying and things will become more clear as I study.
Reading the word when fasting does open your eyes more to the things of God I have also noticed that to.

Re: About fasting and war fare!!

Another thing, to try to fast in order to get the victory or overcome sin is very close to becoming legalistic. The only thing that can allow us to overcome sin is to trust in the work of Calvary. Praying, bible study, and fasting are good things for the christian but not the means to overcome sin. Overcoming sin comes by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. We are to trust only in Christ for our salvation.

You got that out of that same Bible that says there is no need for water baptism in Jesus name for remission of sins?

Catholics believe the same thing, there is no need to turn around from the way they are living!

Someone has deluded you I am afraid. If you think you have only your own spirit to war with you have been greatly deceived.

Well I guess this is a first, legalistic? Fasting is not legalisitc, but necessary.

Folks, that don't like to fast, and most don't, will look for reasons to not fast. But that is why we need to fast to put our flesh under subjection to God.

Dunno about the scratch, but anyone that does not eat for a while can experience depression.

As far as the "not being able to move" part. I had that happen when I first came to the Lord as I was sleeping. I only had one other incident similar many years later when I went back east. Neither happened while fasting

Re: About fasting and war fare!!

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1Pe 5:9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
