If you were referred to a vile, dynamic equivalence translation like the New Living Translation, it is not God who did it! Here it is in a REAL Bible (formal equivalence/literal translation):
"Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?"
"Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?"
Consider the following from a REAL Bible:
"Let everyone beware of his neighbor, and put no trust in any brother, for every brother is a deceiver, and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer" (
Jeremiah 9:4).
"Thus says the LORD: 'Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD'" (
Jeremiah 17:5).
"Put no trust in a neighbor; have no confidence in a friend;
guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms" (
Micah 7:5).
