About the gangster point I was saying that music doesn't affect everyone the same. I wouldn't change who I am because of the music I listen to.
Yes the female body is beautiful and not that doesn't justify watching porn. Nothing does. My point is that if a good christian wants to listen to that type of music that is on them. Not all things are wrong, but not all things are profitable.
If you think music that sings about and glorifies sinful lifestyles does not affect you the wrong way, just because it does not change you into a gangster over night, you are seriously spiritually clueless, that is my point.

Holy Roller Novocaine???? What in the world is that supposed to mean? And what does it have to do with the 'song'?
None of those lyrics make sense, actually.
I am think that it is pointing back to the times when they used to travel around with their dad and sleep with some of them girls at the churches at which they 'ministered'. They have talked about this before (I think even was mentioned earlier in this thread) but not sure this is the idead behind the song. When reading these lyrics that is what I gather.

Holy Roller Novocaine
My darling you look lovely
I've come to lay you down
Uncover your head and submit to me
We'll make a joyful sound
I don't care if you're by yourself
Or you're all alone when you need my help
Keep that smile on your pretty face
Cause you don't have much I can't take away
[Chorus:]
Don't you worry baby
You won't feel a thing
Close your eyes
Holy Roller Novocaine
Lord's gonna get us back [x4]
I know, I know
Lord's gonna get us back [x4]
I know, I know
You'll be hearin' me comin'
But I can't come inside
I'll be out back in my white Cadillac
Won't you join me for a ride
Let me take you up to the mountain top
There I'll show all the goods I got
Don't look back keep your eyes ahead
This could be the night that the moon goes red
[Repeat Chorus]
All the world is moanin'
And baby so am I
I'm just givin' you warning
And I'm telling you why
Knocked Up
I don't care what nobody says
We're gonna have a baby
Taking off in a coupe De ville
She buckled up on navy
She don't care what her mama said, no
She's gonna have my baby
I'm taking all i have to take
This takings gonna shape me
Who'll call us renegade
Feel like we're living crazy
We like taking on the town
Some people getting lazy
I don't care what nobody says, no
I'm going to be her lover
Always mad and usually drunk
But I love her like no other
And the doctor seems to say he don't know
Where we're gonna go?
I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
People call us renegade
Feel like we're living crazy
We like taking on the town
Some people getting lazy
I don't care what nobody says, no
I'm going to be her lover
Always mad and usually drunk
But I love her like no other
And the doctor seems to say he don't know
Where we're gonna go?
I'm a ghost and I don't think I quite know
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
Where we're gonna go?
Where?
They gonna call us renegade, woah, oh, oh
Feel like we're living on this town, woah, oh, oh
Woah, oh, oh, woah, oh, oh
And I don't care if you don't win
I don't care what nobody says
We're gonna have a baby
Taking off in a coupe De ville
She buckled up on navy
She don't care what her mama said, no
She's gonna have my baby
I'm taking all I have to take
This takings gonna shape me
Sex On Fire
Lay where you're laying
Don't make a sound
I know they're watching
They're watching
All the commotion
the killing of pain
Has people talking
Talking
You
Your sex is on fire
The dark of the alley
The break of the day
Ahead while I'm driving
I'm driving
Soft lips are open
Them knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying
You're dying
You
Your sex is on fire
And so
Were the words to transpire
Hot as a fever
Rattling bones
I could just taste it
Taste it
But it's not forever
But it's just tonight
Oh we're still the greatest
The greatest
The greatest
Great inspirational music for any Christian to listen to and grow Spiritually

I think you are missing what I am saying. I like the music. But it is not for everyone. This type of music DOES NOT affect me that I know of. I am the same person I am with the music as I am without it. Music doesn't affect everyone the same. If someone has an issue with music then they don't need to listen. Of course if someone is trying to act different or truely be different they might not need to listen. It really comes down to what you feel you can handle. God gives us the ability to choose for a reason. I don't think that this music is for everyone though.

FYI Prax, I never said it was good for anyone to listen to it....I made the choice to listen to it. I, in fact, just started and don't even own any of their music though I will at some point.

I am finding it hard to understand why one would want to "handle" something as vile and blasphemous as Holy Roller Novacain?
JT, we agree on a lot of things around here. And I am not one who opposes all secular music out of hand.
However, I am finding your arugments in this tread hard to follow....

Despite their religious background, they say their father would often play rock records in the car by musicians like the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and Bad Company while their mother was not around.

Hmmmm...seems the father's music affected and influenced the sons, so there is something in music that affects people. And with the bands history here, I would personally stay as far away from this music as possible.
