They're backsliden....by default of course they sold their soul to the devil. That does not mean they literally met the devil, signed an agreement and got a satanic blessing.

by good & bad i'm not talking about holy vs. profane...or spiritual vs. secular. I'm talking about good art vs. bad art...good music vs. bad music.
good art/music...art/music that inspires....that moves your emotions and feelings...that could be in a positive way or negative way...good art/music that reaches into you soul and causes you to laugh, cry, think, reflect, sing, paint, etc....hopefully you get the picture
So what about the moral good and bad? Are there spiritual consequences to listening to morally bad music that is musically good?

Does everything have to be either from God or from the devil?
I don't know...it doesn't have to be personally inspired but if I wrote a song about fornicating...would that be inspiration from a God centered point of view? Of course not. Who between God and Satan would want that? Satan.
So inspiration is like trickle down economics...though Satan did not personally inspire someone to write a song or even one of Satan's imps, he is still sort of the author of such things from the moment he fell from heaven, to Adam's fall, even to today.

i believe this was an answer to them using thier talents for God.
i was trying to point out that the reason people make commercial music...is to sell it....and make money. you don't make any money if you make bad music that no one is going to buy....so if you are going to be a professional musician you better learn to be good or learn to be hungry.
being a good musician has nothing to do with being Holy-Spirit filled...or devil-spirit filled...you're either good or you're not.
