I am just glad I wasn't Pastor!
It just goes to show you that perhaps while there is guidelines in place in the word, in real life it isn't so black & white!

My question would be - is the father culpable, in some way, if he discourages his son so much that he falls into sin or views God in the same way that his father is treating him and turns away from the faith? OR does the sin lay solely at the feet of the child?

I heard Bro. Larry Carter speak and sing awhile back.... something he said stuck with me. He was talking about his parents getting a divorce when he was a teen. His dad was a preacher, and suddenly - bam, it was over. Divorce.

Bro. Carter said - "I could say that that is what caused me to walk away from God. It shattered my world. But, no. I had a choice. I didn't have to allow that to push me away from God. I made my own choice."

I believe the word teaches this.

Case in point, I may wish my wife were more "submissive" (what man doesn't? LOL) she may wish I were more loving & we both have a point.

When I stand before God, I Nam not going to answer to God for her submissiveness or lack thereof, & when she stands before God, she will not answer for my love for her or lack thereof, she will answer for her submissiveness!

Make sense?
