Re: Will I have to go to Prison or Not? PRAY 4 ME!

VICTORY! I just want to thank everyone for your prayers and advice. I was prepared as much as a lawyer I think! LOL I did my home work and here is what happened.
1.Elderly couple was invited to our church by an elderly member and they visited Jan.4.and filled out a guest card with their phone number on it.
2.They were added to the weekly call out that I make every Saturday concerning our Celebration on Sunday.
3. The Call out is usually under 60 seconds and has an OPT OUT by pressing 1 statement after I finish.
4. He never pressed one and never called the church number to request being taken off the calls.
5. He received 16 calls from January 10 - April 29. He never opted out.
6. On April 29 he called and left a very nasty message on the church voice mail with his name and number and was taken off the list that day and have never received another call.
7. He filed a criminal arrest warrant against me on May 7 and paid $15 to file it for "HARRASSING PHONE CALLS ABOUT CHURCH ACTIVITIES".
8. I called him and apologized and he said it was too late and he would see me in court and wanted to tell his story in open court and for the judge to humiliate me in an open court. I was very kind to him but he said - "I WANT MY DAY IN COURT".
9. We arrived at the courtroom about the same time (I had to miss my Wednesday night service to go) and when they opened the doors to the court room. My wife and I were the first in. The man was sitting out on the bench just out side the courtroom door - deeply engaged in conversation with another old man.
10. The judge read all the rules and started calling names. He called this mans name and no one answered - he was 5 feet from the courtroom - just talking away. The judge called his name again then and no answer. The judge called my name and smiled and said. Mr. Pugh - this case is dismissed and you are free to go!
11. I AM A FREE MAN!
12. This has caused us to rethink the whole Call out that we do and we will do it much better. This is the first complaint we have ever had in 3 years of doing it.
13.There will be a place for people to check if they want to be added to the Weekly call out and they will only be added if they check the space.
14.Thank you for all your help and encouragement!

That is pretty funny!

Glad it worked out well, and a great idea to have people opt-in instead of opt-out.

That is fantastic! If I am putting the pieces together correctly, sounds like he wasn't paying attention to what was going on and missed the trial.

What if that was an angel sent to him to distract him??

Congrats on your great news, God is good!

LOL! That is hilarious! So many times, I've seen this kind do themselves in.

Kinda anticlimactic, though.

But congrats, anyway!
