I will have to take this all to prayer. The advice everyone gave was helpful. Truthfully, in my heart so far, I feel that getting excommunicated to be "revolutionary" might not be the best of intents, however, I am surprised that some here who voted "No" (the majority) did not make any response or give any interpretation for the verses where JESUS spoke of setting families against each other- it almost seems like there are Scriptures you don't believe in.

Alex, as long as you aren't making a rash decision, I think everything will be fine.

I believe I did address Jesus' words in a previous post, and IMO He was addressing what will happen, not what we should purposely cause to happen. That interpretation fits in with other scripture, in which we are to be wise as serpents, but gentle as doves.

Personally, I am not opposed to you removing yourself from the RCC rolls, IF it bothers you that much. I don't think it affects your salvation one way or the other, so that should lower its priority a bit.

From that line of thought is where you might want to weigh the idea that maintaining a positive relationship with your family may be more important than enforcing a negative relationship with the RCC.

Brother Alex,

I am glad to hear you give double honor to the elder of your assembly...

Being revolutionary is Living for Jesus! Having said that, if you feel that it would have a positive impact on your life and your family then do it...

Just do not be too disappointed if what you are trying to accomplish does not happen right away...

You may get your name removed from the RCC roll list, but it is God that will open your family's eyes...

Also, Jesus says in Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

There are similar scriptures in Micah 7:6 and Luke 12:53...

These scriptures have to do with a spiritual revelation and warfare, not a physical one...

I hope this helped...

Re: Should I Get Excommunicated?

If God does the separating between you and your family, that is one thing.

However, interpret scripture in light of scripture and let me know how you would interpret this scripture for your situation.

King James Bible
He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

Proverbs 11:29

If you want to reach these folks, your own family members, be loving and wise. Let God do the separating.
