... I don't remember guys getting tattoos or girls wearing earrings though, you'll have to fill me in on that one. ....
I didn't mean guys in the church getting tattoos or girls in the church wearing earrings, I meant that as a general statement. Years ago women ordinarily did not get tattoos and men did not generally wear earrings.
I remember back in the nineteen fifties when a friend came back from "reform school" he had an earring. He was about 17 or so. I thought it was neat. But he's the only guy I saw with an earring for many, many years.

Some people shouldn't try to wear a beard then there are those who can. It is simpler for a pastor to set a rule that no one holds an office or take part on the platform if he or she has a beard rather than telling someone they can't take part because their beard isn't becoming.
But on the other hand , if a man has to be told weather or not he can grow a beard that looks presentable he probably isnt discerning enough to be in leadership anyway!

There they can find plenty of fault.
1. I know I am getting old because the lead pastor looks like a teenager to me.
2. Is this a UPC church? If so it has the first pastor I have seen with facial hair
3. I don't think Elder Epley will be preaching there anytime soon as the first pic I saw under the "vision" button was that of a bobbed haired woman and she was smiling as if she thinks she is making it to heaven!

I'm the "bobbed haired woman" you are referring to in the website, and I AM going to heaven by the grace of God. Shame on you for judging me based on a snapshot on a website. I really wanted to lay into you in my response, but then I remembered a quote I once read, "Judging the judgemental only makes you judgemental" and that's not what I want to be and that's not what Christ wants me to be. So I'll leave it at this: Yes, I was angry when I first read that, but I forgive you and I'll be praying for you. I only ask that you please use better discernment next time.

LOL!!!! I was being ironic in my post. I am one of those UPC folks who went "charismatic" as they say about 26 years ago. I absolutely do not belivee there is any biblical prohibtion against a woman cutting her hair and my wife has been cutting hers for a very long time.
Those who have been around AFF for very long know that I am against the clothesline mentality of Old Time Pentecost and the misapplication of scriptures to try to justify unbiblical / extra biblical "standards".
I wrote my post about your churches website as if I were writing from an old time Pentecostal perspective trying to be ironic. I am sorry you took me for real.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I am glad I made you glad! I hope you stick around and post some so we get to know you.

Wow, CC1 be sure your sins will find you out. It's a small world after all. LOL
Mom, I can assure you that CC1 was poking fun at some members on this board who actually believe that women who cut their hair are in sin. He wasn't insulting you in any way.

Thanks Mike for the help. I don't want your mom or anybody's mom mad at me! I do appreciate her resolve in defending herself and her church from a perceived attack. I bet she had your back growing up.
