I'm in agreement here.
I know that I can rub people the wrong way sometimes by some of the things I say that either forces people to think or causes a knee-jerk response. I hope I'm not on anyone's ignore list, but I'm sure I am and I'm okay with that.
I don't understand why some post here at all. One in particular that has become increasingly disrespectful of the pentecostal faith was the most recent (and only user) to be put on my ignore list. Why come here if your only purpose is to mock and ridicule - especially when you NEVER post scripture to support your view and never get into any intelligent discussion with Berean-style scholarship?
I've taken some beatings for my stances on a few things from some, but at least we were engaging each other and talking from scripture. Everyone has a choice whether or not to participate in a discussion, but if you're going to participate you should behave like an intelligent adult. Build support for your view with scriptural context - not with a strawman, not with circular reasoning, and not with ad hominem attacks.
I will refer to D4T's post, though, and state that I'm somewhat in agreement there as well. I don't consider myself a lib, as much as I refer to myself as a "recovering ultra-con"... trying to avoid the pendulum effect. The problem that I'll echo from D4T is when people with a "more liberal" stance on standards (as defined by codified conduct, dress, etc.) are broadbrushed as backslidden, apostate, etc. by the right and extreme right, that tends to stifle a lot of the meatier conversations. I'm all for a good biblical, adult conversation with a conservative and can respect his or her views. The problem is that often little respect is shown in either direction. So... where did all those people go that we kicked in the teeth? Where do you think?
