I don't understand why some post here at all. One in particular that has become increasingly disrespectful of the pentecostal faith was the most recent (and only user) to be put on my ignore list. Why come here if your only purpose is to mock and ridicule - especially when you NEVER post scripture to support your view and never get into any intelligent discussion with Berean-style scholarship?
I've taken some beatings for my stances on a few things from some, but at least we were engaging each other and talking from scripture. Everyone has a choice whether or not to participate in a discussion, but if you're going to participate you should behave like an intelligent adult. Build support for your view with scriptural context - not with a strawman, not with circular reasoning, and not with ad hominem attacks.
I will refer to D4T's post, though, and state that I'm somewhat in agreement there as well. I don't consider myself a lib, as much as I refer to myself as a "recovering ultra-con"... trying to avoid the pendulum effect. The problem that I'll echo from D4T is when people with a "more liberal" stance on standards (as defined by codified conduct, dress, etc.) are broadbrushed as backslidden, apostate, etc. by the right and extreme right, that tends to stifle a lot of the meatier conversations. I'm all for a good biblical, adult conversation with a conservative and can respect his or her views. The problem is that often little respect is shown in either direction. So... where did all those people go that we kicked in the teeth? Where do you think?

Reading this post reminds me of an observation of mine.
I have found that when people leave a con/ultra con church they will, almost always, go through a personal swinging from side to side. There has been direct thumbs on rule and now they are beginning a brand new process of finding out what they really believe for themselves.
I think more people would end up more moderate in the end if they didn't find the only place they can move freely to be in fellowship with those of liberal leanings.
What do we expect the outcome will be when someone begins this pendulum process of forming their own convictions if they are only met with being pushed away by those with a conservative leaning?
When they were in a formative period of their Christian journey they were shunned by those with conservative leanings and then many say "Yeah... I knew that is where they would end up. They just didn't have it in them"
We can see do much wrong in them but are completely oblivious to our own fault in the matter.
