Well, I'm probably not "Emergent" 'cause my shirt is never tucked in. Jeans? Absolutely! Soul Patch? Not my kinda thing. I'm not crazy about haircuts, though! So If I'm gonna associate myself with a "style", then I would mention these churches only because they're known....Northpoint, NewSpring, Willow Creek, Mosaic, Gateway Community, Lifechurch, Granger Community, etc.

Re: I Heard through the Grapevine~Joe Parker Out~
That story about a relative of LS reminded me of a funny story Bishop1 told on here or NFCF. He told how that one time at a UPC Gen Conf he saw his sister on the street and she ignored him because she didn't want anybody to know they were related!!! LOL!!!!
I miss Bishop1's stories and rich knowledge of UPC history and people.
Regarding Joe Parker I am wishing him and Jean the best and praying for wisdom in them deciding their future. I so rarely think it is the right thing to start another church in the same town you just left one. I hope he will consider blessing some other location with his considerable talents as a pastor and preacher of the Gospel.
In fact, now that I think about it, it is clear it is the will of God for Joe and Jean to move to Murfreesboro, TN and start a church here!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

They don't have to stay in the same town to remain in the Treasure Valley. The area is very seriously lacking good churches to choose from.
Unless you're Mormon, then you're good. Oh, but then you don't get to pick your church either, unless you buy your house in a specific neighborhood just for the church. lol

According to their website their "Praise Meetings" are in Nampa. Since my geographic knowledge of Idaho is zero I don't know how far that is from their previous pastorate.
Edjumacate me about the "Treasure Valley". I am curious.
Someone may have already posted it but if not here is a link to Joe and Jean Parker's website -

Nampa and Caldwell border each other, but there's a distinct divide between the two towns. Nampa is known as the rougher of the two towns.
80 people. Wow. They're likely the 3rd largest Apostolic church in the entire Treasure Valley.

No harm is meant to the Parkers.

Why then did you not start a generic thread with no names that addresses the reason he is leaving the church he pastors instead of using real names and places?

Looking at the map and seeing where they are, they're probably 15 to 20 miles from Valley Church right now.

Good. That is far enough to justify being in the same area as the church he left.
