Sitting at work.......

....and configuring nearly a 100 laptops for this years students. This feels like it is taking forever.

I am NOT a Mac person but from an administrative perspective they are sooooo much easier to set up and configure then these PC's.

Re: Sitting at work.......

Over glorified and over priced (WAY overpriced).

However, for certain things, they are very nice. They come with a Migration Assistant utility that makes copying user accounts and applications ridiculously easy. The Mac OS also does not have a Registry which makes installation and uninstalling much easier -IF the application is well behaved. If it isn't, the OS is much more locked down then Windows and nearly impossible to get into and do any sort of manual cleanup.

Re: Sitting at work.......

I had 2 Dell laptops give up on me during law school, always at about time for finals. My wife had a Toshiba laptop that also died. We bought two mac's and have been happy with them no issues and no viruses either. Mac is worth the price in my mind.

Part-time Mac user here. It works just fine. Of course, XP works just fine for me as well. I would have a hard time paying full price for a Mac laptop, my cheap netbook works just fine.

Re: Sitting at work.......

My personal laptop is a Toshiba. I am running Vista 64 bit which works just fine and already have 3 copies of Windows 7 on order which eliminated a LOT of the things that Apple had going for them.

I just cannot stand the "closed" feeling I get when using a Mac. There is literally a couple of orders of magnitude more available for the PC platform.

The mac slogan "it just works" kinda says it all.

I have no idea what your last sentence means, can you put that in dummy language?

How do we know Windows 7 will be better than Vista (other than almost anything is better than Vista)? What is different about Windows 7?
