Maybe the visiting preacher was tipped off by the pastor that a certain AFF member frequents bars!

I haven't heard bars mentioned from the pulpit for at least a hundred years. I once heard that preaching is confessing. A preacher sometimes harps on something because he himself has problem with. T.S. Tenney told us this one day when he was the special speaker in our Ministerial Ethics class back in the last century.

Re: Bars..

Other than young adults hoping to meet someone, are bars really a big deal. Obviously not where I hang out.
I know my younger coworkers go to bars on the weekend.

Most restaurants serve liquor now anyway.

Hey man meet me in Vicksburg and I will buy you a beer. You sound like you need one.

Oh, I was in your town Friday. Had to buy a new laptop.

Cool Re: Bars..

When I was about 20 a supervisor at work was leaving, and my work associates planned a going away get together.

Since we worked in the evening, they "unofficially" shut down the office.
We all went to a bar (drinking age was younger!).

They served food and everyone got drinks. It really seemed to bother everyone since I didn't "drink".
(My 1st choice --- Diet Coke--- wasn't invented until 1982 so ....)
I drank lots of 7up. Whenever I finished it, someone made sure I had a refill.
This was before free refills But I don't think bars give pop refills anyway.
What stands out in my mind was the desire that I also have a glass of "something". Apparently people don't like to drink alone

(we were all on the clock so to speak and returned to the office after a couple hours)
My only bar experience.

Not only do most bars give free refills on plain soda, if you are the DD you usually get it totally free (meaning that you don't even have to pay for the first one).
