I don't think Elder Garrett's would be a good fit for you.

WOW!

I just went to one this past weekend that was quite subdued.

Nevertheless, it was a bar/club.

I had an ok time, but I had very little in common with the folks there except for our shared enjoyment of ping pong.

Honestly, I'm not sure it's something I should work into my busy schedule as a form of relaxation.

However, there are times when I get really lonely and long for human interaction!
This place was a source for that basic human need.

Re: Bars..

I would like to throw my hat in with Yisraelm. Our family does not go to restaurants that serve alcohol either. That used to be a commonly accepted standard in conservative pentecost until about 30 to 40 years ago. Our family does not go to taverns. Never have, never will. I applaud Yisraelm for his stand.

You don't go to any restaurants that serve alcohol? Where do you go?

I think there is nothing wrong with that particular conviction but it does beg the question, which I believe someone else has brought up already, where do you shop for food?

For me it's a "guy thing". We used to live down the street from a small hole in the wall bar. I enjoyed going down there, talking to a few friends, having something to eat and a beer, scotch, or whiskey. We'd just hang out and be guys. However, at about 11 PM it got a little rowdy and I'd head out.

When it comes to taking the little lady out for a few drinks after dinner (which isn't often) I prefer a nicer venue such as a martini bar or wine bar with live jazz.
