Hospitals has standards USDA has standards to keep down tainted meat. Any thing that deals with life and death of people needs standards. Would you like The USDA to stop having standards ?What about hospitals?How much the more the CHURCH that deals with the eterinty"s of men. You just don't get it. "Us liberals" do not want to abolish standards.

We ALL have standards of some sort.

What we desire is to have those standards derived from clearly interpreted scripture.

Duet 22:5 is miss applied as a "priciple that women can not wear bifurcated garments or pants. That interpretaion comes out of ignorance of the word NOT knowledge of the word.

1 Cor 11 is like muddy water (unclear)at best with NO other scriptural support to the idea a woman can not cut her hair.

Our "scholars" will ignore 85 % of hebrew scholars and go with the few that will say that hebrew word COULD mean uncut, to let grow. Even those 15% will not say it absolutley means that.

Standards in the upci are nothing more than the doctrines and commandments of men. Paul severely warned the church against those who would put such laws upon the church,

So, my response to your non response will be shorter seeing I think corresponding with people that lack the ability to value the declaration a waste of my time as well. I can say for myself. I support it, signed it and for those who don't that is there right. However, the UPC has stood for some basic holiness issues. We intend to encourage other men to have the strength and conviction to follow that formula that has produced some of the most wonderful people, ministries, churches and revivals. I am for that. It is what we are for. We declare it.

If the declarations are in a state of flux, subject to revision at any time, how do you know that those who have signed in the past still agree to the way it is worded today?

There are certain "standards/regulations" a hospital must maintain to be recognized as a true life saving station. However, Nurse's uniforms are a standard best left to the local hospital administrator.

We have all heard stories of women who have taken off their long skirts, long sleeves, flipped back their long hair and climbed into bed with men who weren't their husbands. I could give you a list of names of women I know personally who have done this. Why didn't their standards keep them from sin?

I also know oodles of women who don't follow our dress standards who would never do such a thing.

It's the spirit of God, and what's in our hearts that keeps us from sin. Not our clothing.
