Me, too. He's not the type to conspire against the present leadership. Although, apparently someone is trying to paint him as such--who would benefit from starting such a rumor?

Why do you find this so sickening? It's just politics.
Probably because he's the first for this to happen to. Most of the other men stepped down when they were done.
Politics is ammoral, by the way. It's a science of people interaction. We've demonized the word. When it's used for power wielding manipulation, and people say things they don't believe, backstab, insert money, etc then it becomes evil.
Rumor has it that DB sent out a Twitter just prior to the voting that he would allow his name to run, if voters would not re-affirm KH. He had not made any commitment prior to that twitter. Surprises me.... I could have believed it of others but surprised that DB would do that....
rumor... i dont like those things.

I don't see the "Lord's will" in any of this political garbage.
I really do love Bro. Haney. He brought brightness to my spiritual life when all seemed dark. I will forever appreciate his role in my life as pastor. I would have never ended up where I am now if not for his ministry. For him to be the first ever (I think so anyway) to be voted out is sickening.
But this is what happens when a GREAT pastor steps DOWN to the position of General Superintendent.
IMHO the term "voted out" is not really a true statement. Bishop Haney was the first GS to be voted in under term limits. This is exactly how it was set up to work, so that no one could repeat what former GS's had done. (Long term hold on power whether good or bad)
He has served 8 years (2 terms) and reached the end of his term limit. Again IMHO the possibility of "overriding" term limits by a two thirds nominating ballot should have never been added. It creates an atmosphere such as some ore feeling today that somehow a sitting GS is being dissed when that is not really the case.
Just as the political libs tied katrina and the economy, etc to Bush ... I believe the religious cons view the tv resolution and the upc split as KH's fault...

Right, who benefits? I would have to have proof to believe it.
