I don't know Bro. Bernard at all, but based on his books from times past, I always thought he was pretty conservative.

"It indisputable that a minority of Oneness ministers in the UPC and outside the UPC have believed that the new birth occurs at repentance only. However, this view has indeed been a minority. Within the UPC it is lessening, although it may be increasing outside the UPC. Moreover, from the beginning, most leaders of the movement as well as the major organizations have taught that Acts 2:38 is the complete salvation experience of the New Testament. For documentation, see my book A History of Christian Doctrine, Vol. 3 and my booklet Understanding the Articles of Faith."
"It would be difficult for a preacher to have an active ministry in the UPCI if he were to deny that water baptism and Spirit baptism are part of New Testament salvation, even if he affirmed that these experiences were good."
Tolerant?

Re: 10.01.09-The End of Haneywood - D. Bernard New
Forgive my ignorance, but did the nominating process go something like this? :
1) All of the hundreds of UPCI ministers in the room wrote in a name on a ballot during the nomination process. Nobody knew for sure who would be nominated, but they had their suspicions.
2) Those ballots were then counted, and, let's say, the top 4 candidates were announced: Huntley, Mooney, Jones, and Bernard. Then Huntley and Mooney withdrew their names.
3) Then the actual election happened between Jones and Bernard, and Bernard won. Is this accurate????

Bascially, however I don't believe Huntley was nominated until after Mooney withdrew and they re-voted.

I'm sure Jones was not a happy camper.

Within the conservative ring of fellowship I was in it seemed to me that Mooney is more to the right than Bernard. I may be wrong, I'm just speaking about my experience.

I certainly wouldn't argue with you, I don't know enough about either of them to make an informed decision. I have a lot of respect for Bro. Mooney, based on what I do know, but really don't know him well enough to categorize or characterize him.
I do not know Bro. Bernard at all.
