1 Timothy 2:8-10 (Amplified Bible)
8I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt [in their minds], lifting up holy hands.
9Also [I desire] that women should adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with [elaborate] hair arrangement or gold or pearls or expensive clothing,
10But by doing good deeds (deeds in themselves good and for the good and advantage of those contacted by them), as befits women who profess reverential fear for and devotion to God.
Notice how both are interpreted with "I want" or "I desire" not even saying "This is another requirement for salvation from God" insinuation? There is another scripture where Paul is clear that it is him, not God, saying something.
I DO believe in dressing in a way that does not encourage a man to commit adultry in his heart, but I think modesty in this passage deals with not being elaborate or drawing attention to ourselves with expensive or pretty articles of clothing. Just my opinion.
I also believe that this is a Godly man's suggestion for a group of believers and not a command from God. I make LOTS of suggestions that I feel from God for a child of mine that do not get followed.

I do not make an issue of it, because I believe people need to be allowed to make decisions on their own and feel the weight of responsibility.
Teach people to love the Lord their God with all their hearts, and others as themselves and you will have a bunch of people doing a bunch of things different from each other but still pleasing God.
If the focus is always on the external, people never really get deep with the internal stuff. When kids are told that how they dress shows what is in their heart, they get confused that dressing "the correct way" means their heart is right with God.

Get them on fire for God, with simply pointing out how their clothing, or lack there of, can cause others to stumble and you have kids focused on pleasing God instead of men.
