In some cases, I would agree with you, however, I'm not speaking about people stealing food from the store. They are robbing and killing people. I don't buy the excuse for that kind of behavior that 'well your honor, understand that I was desperate and poor'. Nope. I don't buy it. Decent people of any race and color don't resort to such measures with that excuse.
But you are right that illegals are persuaded with promises of a good life (and a lot of times, it's white American men, not just gangs that do this), thus making the problem more so.

The process takes too long and is too expensive for most.

I disagree. There are lots of poor folks who come to this country legally all the time without a problem. Again, I think that it's possible for some, but not for most.

I know you were kidding, when I read it I chuckled, because I know that just isn't you.

Thanks. It isn't me, but I like messing around....maybe too much....LOL!

But we agree, something has to be done. We have millions of illegals in the United States living under the radar, having to work under the table secretly, and resorting to crime to make a living because they can't do it legally. Unless we enforce some gestapo like movement to forcibly round them up like cattle and remove them by force (consider the cost of such an endeavor) our best bet is to create a fast track to citizenship. This will allow many to become citizens, work legally, and could reduce the allure of a life of crime. Not to mention increase the religious voting base, and bring in more tax revenue.

That would be a good idea, but again, except for someone stealing food from a store, I don't buy the 'I used a gun and killed a complete stranger for his shoes because I'm a poor illegal immigrant' excuse for crime. In most cases, you will find that these criminals escaped from Mexico because Mexican jail is WAAAAY worse than American jail! They were criminals there already, and they continue their crime sprees here. I think you'd be looking long and hard to find an illegal immigrant who was an upstanding citizen in their country but turned into a criminal in this country. That makes no sense whatsoever.
As for the cost to 'round them up', I'd gladly pay that then paying for them to reside in jail and prison for months and years, paying for their food, air conditioning, education, and medical care.
However, for those who might be here illegally but want to be upstanding citizens, I'd pay for their education, housing and food while they are in school, and I'd support them for however long it took for them to become productive citizens.
Commit crime, however, and you are out. Just once. Done. Of course, I'd do that for citizens on welfare too, but that's another lazy bunch of people (for the most part, not everyone, but most) to talk about on another day. LOL!
