Sen. Bill Frist to Speak at Christ Church Nov 7th

Ex-senator Bill Frist from Tennessee will be the guest speaker at Christ Church in Nashville on November 7th. Most of you will remember him as the majority leader in the Senate when the GOP was in control.

Christ Church is honoring those members in the medical field that Sunday. Bill Frist was a doctor before he was senator.

While I was not a big fan of Senator Frist's tenure as Senate majority leader there is no doubt that he is an admirable man.

Although from a very wealthy Tennessee family he devotes an incredible amount of time volunteering as a Dr. on overseas missions trips to help other people with no agenda other than to help. His pollitical life is over so he is not doing this as a calculated move to make him look good.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
