Heavenly, we have millions already here. In order to round them up and send them home we'd have to turn American into a police state where no one was allowed to work privately without showing the proper "papers". We'd have to prosecute ANYONE who did any kind of work without registering it with the government. For example, you have illegals that do roofing as a private business to support themselves and their families. You have American citizens who are roofers too. To catch the illegals we'd have to force everyone to file every bit of work that needed to be done and who was doing it for them. Then have that individual provide proper paperwork... We'd have to erect miles and miles of security fences, cameras, and deploy thousands of boarder security officers with dogs, guns, lights, vehicles, helicopters, etc. We'd have to go door to door throughout the United States to hunt, find, and deport them.
Those who are already here need to be made citizens. There's little we can do besides turning into a police state to catch them. And many have been here for years and have families. I know a family that if the man was deported he'd stand a chance of not seeing his daughter or the mother of his daughter again. We can't do that.
The reality is we have millions here and I'm not comfortable with the measures it would take to catch them and send them back. Not to mention the money it would take. I say fast track those already here to citizenship, give them a mis on their record, fine them, and probation. Then they'd pay taxes and labor law would apply so they couldn't undercut American workers.
Then turn to the system and start the necessary reforms to streamline this long and antiquated process.
