when I was about 6 I shot out the sliding glass door in our trailer (YES I LIVED IN A HOUSE TRAILER) in the dead of winter.

That's funny. Though I bet it wasn't at the time. One time there was a window of a car shot out at my grandparents house, there were several cousins with BB guns and somehow I got blamed.
I got a .20 gauge when I was 12. I also bought a .30-.30 when I was 13. Still have both of them and have added to the collection some since then. My daughter who is 12 was asking for a rifle the other day, hmmm seems like a good idea to me!!!
