License to sin? You think it is a sin to watch AI?

NOW, this is way off base. Legalism gets started when someone teaches something and enforces it on others without proper scriptural principles.

Saying someone can't wear red, can't own a TV, can't play baseball, etc. Just some made up junk.

However, "what one person considers untouchable, andother has no issue with." Well, people on this board have already come out in favor of the Twilight vampire series, others have defended Saw movies, and the like. Where is the line?

If I admonish the church NOT to watch porn, am I imposing legalism upon them? What if some claim it's only natural or educational? If I apply the same thing to movies such as Chainsaw massacre, Saw, and the like, am I out of bonds, am I become a legalist for teaching them not to watch others be chopped to shreds?

MAybe AI is okay. I don't personally watch it, but I haven't preached against it. I do believe that there is some variation on personal convictions, but you know as well as I that everyone must draw a line somewhere.

Why is your line okay, and mine legalism?

Not necessarily, but I believe it is a sin to watch some things. And to listen to some things (under the power of our own will).

I don't label shows in themselves sinful or not, but I judge entertainment (movies, TV, internet, radio, magainzes/books) by Phillipians 4:8

Jason, come on. Are you serious? I watch American Idol. Is that problematic for you? I liked the singing of Adam Lambert. Is that problematic for you? Which of those two things is "American Carnal Christianity" that is giving people a "license to sin?"

And the bolded....You're calling into question the personal character of people in the church I pastor simply because I watch American Idol and like one of the singers? How did you connect those two dots?

When you say, "N.O.W., you're way off base", you should add, "In my opinion" because I certainly disagree with you. How in the world can you equivocate "Chain Saw Massacre" and "Porn" with "American Idol"??

I'm saying that if you don't believe you should watch American Idol, then don't watch it. Just don't expect me to refrain. If you do expect me to, that's legalism.

Doesn't sound like Jason is the one with a problematic issue.

Instead of just doing a drive-by cheap shot, why don't you produce some substance and explain how you arrived at this brilliant conclusion.
