Re: More Jokes
Notofworks, I do want to mention something that I think is important in all of this. These people, these jokes - they are not really targeted at the person. They are targeted at the icon that these people have become or represent. The fact is, for better or worse, we tend to dehumanize people in positions or power or fame - and our jokes tend to aim more at the idea of that person rather than the actual person. Not one of the people here would stand by and laugh in Tiger's face during this (self-imposed) trial in his life. But, from a distance, he's just an icon. An idea. You are personalizing these jokes in a way that others are not. Sure, these are human beings. Is it right to distance them in this way? Maybe not. But I think it's important to recognize the difference.
