Re: ~~~~Christmas Plans~~~~

It will be just us and the children this year. Very different from other years. We always have Potato Soup on Christmas Eve. Then we will watch "Meet Me in St. Louis", followed by " The Sound of Music". While Handsome protest "not again". (It's tradition). We always open presents on Christmas Day. For breakfast we always have fresh baked cinnamon rolls. After breakfast, it will be phone calls to all the family members we aren't able to be with this year. Then for lunch we go Italian. Lasagna, Bruschetta, Salad, and for Dessert, Panettone and Spumone. Oh...and of course there's always a buttermilk pie in the fridge for Handsome. Then togetherness and pure laziness the rest of the day!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Re: ~~~~Christmas Plans~~~~

Looks like the Apostolics are eating their way thought the holidays! LOL! I forgot to add what I was making for sweets- caramel pecan brownies, I am trying a new recipe Cranberry Orange Pound Cake, Black Forest Chocolate Trifle- Low Sugar- Have to please those who eat chocolate, those that don't and those that have to watch the sugar intake.

We will have roast with carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy, uppity green beans (LOL) and angel biscuits and iced tea.

I will also be making my son's favorite dessert - Tri-level brownies. Doing sugar cookies with Royal icing and sprinkled with Wilton's white sparkly sugar.. I can't stand making sugar cookies but, I'm in the mood this year.

We will probably play Pictionary - girls against the guys! It's our favorite game when we get together.

I will have Christmas music playing and The Christmas Shoes movie, muted.

Christmas morning we will be driving to Austin for several days. My husband will be preparing the brisket on Thursday to take with us. I will bring a pot of pinto beans and Potatoes O'Brien. We always have BBQ on Christmas Day - Elgin sausage. Bringing leftover dessert since no one here eats much of it. I just make it for decoration. LOL!

Still wrapping gifts!!!!

May I suggest 'Apples to Apples'? We did pictionary and scattergories for several years then we switched to Cranium, but Apples to Apples is the newest and I have played with many people from 8 years old to 60 and they all love it!

When my yearbook class (10-12th graders) make a deadline we get a party for a class period- they BEG for me to bring Apples to Apples. Haven't heard of The New Yorker, is it similar?

No, The New Yorker is cartoons from The New Yorker and you write a caption for the cartoon and a judge votes for the best - - it can be hysterical what everyone comes up with!
