The L. Mitchell I knew was Lowell R. Mitchell. He baptized me in Jesus' name at the church in Milwaukee. He was pastor in Racine and before I started going there he left for ND.

That might have been a brother of Louis Mitchell.

Do you recall if Lowell had a son named Jim?

I don't know anything about his family.

Re: Washing Machine Story

Thank you for sharing these stories. I have my own washing machine story - though not as dramatic. This spring we were having terrible landlord problems, right after my husband went to Afghanistan. I ended up getting legal involved and having to move in a matter of a couple weeks. It was not a planned move, and it utterly drained our finances. So in the process of getting moved in, suddenly things just started breaking left and right. Coffee machine, carpet shampooer, one thing after another, and then finally the washing machine. It was the final kicker. Honestly, I just laughed because it was unbelievable how bad things were going. But the washer was a big deal, and not something I could go without, and not something I had the money to replace any time soon. I really didn't want to start hand-washing everything.

So I walked upstairs about 2 days later, opened the laundry closet and looked at the washing machine. I laid my hands on it, just resting - sighing - thinking, what am I going to do? And that little voice said, "pray".

Why not? So I did. I closed the lid of the washer, laid my hands on it and prayed.

I turned on the washer, and it worked!!!!!

That was in May, and the washer is still working.

God is so good.
