Sorry to offend. Sounds like your back is against the wall and your worldview has left you with little more than the "if you don't agree with me you're bitter" canard.

Not to worry! While reality can be frightening thing, understanding it and living within it can bring a great deal of happiness to your life.

It is actually mentioned in this book.

Oh, interesting.

I remember reading years ago, that supposedly many of the oldest measurements of the speed of light were actually higher than today's, and generally the older, the faster. The claim was that it wasn't because of errors and lack of accuracy, but it was because light actually was faster, then. How they figured that, I dunno.

It's not that anyone who disagrees with me is bitter. Unless I misunderstood the tone of your post, it just seemed that instead of sticking to the facts you resorted to condescension and belittling the other view.

The fact that you put quotation marks around the word "debates" and claimed that YEC's main objective is to baffle people just kind of turned me off. But we can agree to disagree. Okay?

Edit: Never mind....I deleted my comment because I'm going to read some of the other Creation threads on AFF before I post further. I'm still a newbie here.

The "view" that the earth is just 6,000 to 10,000 years old isn't just an "alternate opinion" that may or may not be valid. It is ridiculous.

Sorry, but it's really that simple. Every one of the YEC "ministries" has resorted to publishing out and out lies in an attempt to bolster their delusions. As a young believer that was my first clue to the problems of this "other view." They lie and deceive.

If you can't understand simple chemical and nuclear processes then you have no business in a lab where such processes must be understood and predicted. If it's all just a matter of subjective make believe for you then you're going to eventually blow something up.

For myself, what got blown apart was the whole YEC delusion.

Teaching my children to observe the local traffic laws is not "condescension" and "belittling" alternate opinions. It's intended to keep them informed and alive. It's really the same thing with the natural world in general.
