No doubt, you can worship Him and honor Him in your own way. But, on what basis do you determine His existence and Who He is? What is He? Where is He?

Is it possible you are still thinking of Him from the words that you read about Him in that Book that you think He may not have inspired? I did notice you capitalized Book. Was that on purpose?

Thanks again for your response. Not trying to be nosey! Just curious. Enjoy your posts.

Yes, I capitalized it so everyone would know what I was referring to, and yes I do have a certain respect for the Bible. And I pretty much always capitalize pronouns for God. Ever notice that?

And yes, I do, to some extent, think of God in terms of how the Bible describes Him, in some cases. Though I am skeptical about the Bible's inspiration and infallibility, I am not committed to believing either all of it or none of it! Some of it makes good sense (and some doesn't) and it has some good (and bad) advice for living. I don't just discard it all!

Re: The Presence of God

Just curious Timmy, what parts of the bible would you remove if any, can ya give us some particular examples and maybe a guiding principle so we can figure out the other parts of it you would remove?

All I can say, "Boy, you are a case!" lol j/k

Your thoughts are challenging and most honest. I myself question sometimes when I'm told, and understand that certain scriptures were not in the original manuscripts, editors changed thus and thus, etc. Then I meet Rev. Joe, (hope there's no Rev. Joe on AFF) and he declares he uses nothing but the King James Version. (You know, if KJV was good enough for Jesus it's good enough for him. lol) And then someone reads from another version and it seems to change what we did learn in earlier days from the KJV. I'm about to decide that everyone's crazy but me and you, and I'm watching you with both eyes! lol Hope you're having a great New Year and hope you're not tired of my posting.

I had wondered how you could consider yourself agnostic and use so many scripture references. Now we know the secret.

Re: The Presence of God

When I feel what I believe is the Spirit it feels like what Jesus called "living waters". It sometimes comes in prayer. Sometimes in worship. Sometimes just talking about him.

I believe it is the "anointing" of the Spirit. Anointing meaning smearing or rubbing. As when something is "poured upon".

Re: The Presence of God

If hearing some of the testimonies here does to anyone else what it does to me, this board may be pretty quiet tonight. I think I'll go pray awhile!

Wow, there's no smiley for how I feel thinking about this...

Would you say that "the way you feel has to do with His presence?" Boy, what an awesome and personal thing His Presence is!
