This is an area that deserves an anthropological study. Closed Cultures with alternative lifestyles like old time Pentecost end up having their own hierarchy and social strata.

Any group of people will, within the paramters they are given for living, develop these things. It is human nature!

Compensation is also a factor. As in; "If I can't wear makeup I will wear the coolest, best looking, shoes I can afford, sometimes ones I can't afford!"

If a person does not keep their heart on the altar and work on developing the fruit of the spirit in their lives this compensation can result in a spirit of "superiority". I have seen Pentecostal women dressed up to the nines in malls walking around with a haughty air looking down their noses at the "common" women around them that are dressed casually. I have also seen Pentecostal women dressed to the nines with big smiles on their faces and as welcoming and friendly as anybody on earth.
