This event for a good cause is promoting sin-- that is if Hip-Hop, Techno, Heavy metal and all of thier entrappings are considered sin.

Some have criticized the strong stance that some take against sports, but then play golf.

Square dancing opens this church up to the same criticisms.

Do you compare square dancing with alcohol and tabacco use?

For me, square dancing is just silly, but to each his own I guess - at least on this one. Most places I know of - if you want an EMPTY hall just advertise a square dancing event. LOL.

Sinner!

One can see from that video that this is aerobic intensive. Maybe it's a good thing at times. Michelle Obama may be promoting just this sort of dancing in the future as part of her childhood obesity thing.

Running and jogging is "sport." Even hiking in the outdoors is "sport." Climbing, skiing, weight lifting, any type of "cardio workout" - they're all sports. Playing outright sporting games is the end result of all this compromise?

Is it best just to git on down to the Golden Corral and load up on the biscuits and gravy to avoid this slippery slope altogether?

Yeppers, wouldn't want things like biblical principles and convictions and of course downright bible mandate to dictate what we do, where we go and what we wear while doing it and going there.

Nor would we want to run the risk of doing something fun, because God hates fun.

Hiking and outdoors are my sins of choice. Going to sin for 5 miles tomorrow am at Bluff Point in Groton. It'll be cold, but people put up with a lot to follow thier addictions.

Of course I could be "holy" and hit the all u can eat breakfast buffet at the Ramada, nothing like a couple of bacon and cheese omelets, big pile of home fries, 3 slices of ham and biscuits and sausage gravy followed by a nice long nap to sleep it all off. That'll sanctify the day fer sure.

I just think that allowing square dancing requires you to draw a line of what kind of dancing is allowed. To me, the best choice is to disallow any dancing whatsoever. But hey..that's just my opinion!

Square dancing is in a league of its own (and I'm not a fan, really) but it seems harmless enough. You have to be in pretty good physical shape to participate very long and I remember learning the basics in elementary school as part of the music program. My opinion is leave it off church property - just to avoid confusion.

I agree! I'm not opposed to square dancing - in fact, I think it would be great exercise (though corny). When I was a kid, I was always the one who had to sit out in P.E. and play the record player because I wasn't allowed to square dance. I think that's ridiculous.

But......I don't want it at church just because of the doors it would open.

Re: Square Dancing at Church??

I had to sit out square dancing in the fifth grade because of my religious beliefs (or my parents), so I was the record changer.
