I gathered that it was what you were alluding to in regards to the two threads.
I do believe that God can and will punish people that make fun of Him or His messengers, at His discretion. Be it on earth or in heaven, He has the ability to and may very well do it.
In regards to
1 John 5:14-15, I don't believe it is in God's will for us to ask vengeance on anyone. Romans clearly says "never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God", and then goes on to state that we should feed and water our enemy, while overcoming good with evil.
I do not prescribe to the idea of us praying for Him to. We can never know all of the variables in the situation. It is best left up to God and absent from our thoughts. I don't care what they did in the Hebrew Bible, I feel that Jesus brought a very different message to us in regards to that, and that is what I choose to follow.
That still does not, in my opinion, take away from the intended message in II Kings. Whether one thinks that God put that scripture in the Hebrew Bible, or whether one thinks that it was just the author's idea about God and included it, I believe the message is clear and is relate-able to all eras.
