A New Career?

WCB has agreed I cannot return to my pre injury job.
They have agreed to look at retraining/upgrading my skills for a more sedentary position.

My last position had me on my feet a lot & it paid $42,000 plus.
WCB wants me to find similar pay, with minimal time on my feet.

Any suggestions?

Have you ever considered piracy? You'd make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts.

Re: A New Career?

At this point you could mix a little Olive Oil, Honey, Coconut Rum, and a drop of liquid vitamin C and call it Captain Ron's Love Tonic #5! If you sold it through a multi-level marketing scheme you would find yourself at the very top of the pyramid!! You WOULD be that guy who only works a few hours a week and pulls in seven figures a year!

Or you may have to just go the long way to wealth and fortune (like the rest of us).

Re: A New Career?

Ron, I don't know what kind of work you have done or what you are interested in... or what might be available in your area. Computer technician? Accountant? Accounts payable/receivable? Shipping? Warehouse? (maybe a combo of forklift and warehouse supply and cataloguing) Human Resources? Nursing? Education? (If you might be interested in teaching, check into possibilities teaching your area of interest at a local tech college-especially if your former job involved detailed work in a specific trade.)

What did you do at your former position? What are some of your interests? Hobbies? Do you like to work as part of a team or independently? Does WCB want you to stay within your current company or find another job? Have they alotted a specified time for retraining, or are you open on that?

These are the kinds of questions you will have to ask and answer at least to yourself as you make this decision. Wish you the best! This could be a terrific opportunity to pursue a new career in something that has been an interest for awhile.

I have a four year degree plus some credits. If I were to be offered 6 months of training, I'd be an interpretter (sign language). At least one year, but less than two, a teacher or possibly a nurse. Two years or more, I'd get my masters in Marketing, I think. Four years or more and unlimited funds, juris doctorate (law). Any of those could be done standing or sitting, for the most part-even nursing if I emphasized in the right type of nursing.

I suppose the NBA's out, with a bad foot and all... but heard that there's still an open spot on the PGA Tour.

Why don't we all agree to NOT forgive Tiger so that Ron can take that spot?

Re: A New Career?

I too am seeking my new path. Recently I read, 48 days to the work you love, by Dan Miller.... a very good book. I will never look at work again in the same light. I bid you well, Ron.

Re: A New Career?

Hey Ron, I just received this email. Want me to forward it to you? Sounds like a once in ten lifetimes deal!!

Hello
I am Mrs Dalisay Bayani A complete citizen of Philippine and Wife of Late businessman and politician Mr Wilfredo who passed away after a brief illness that lasted for only four days June 17 2005. Before his death we were both born again Christians and we lived happy married life for 13 years though without a child. Since his death, I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is really against.

I inherited a total sum of US$9 million. This money which is concealed in a metallic trunk box is deposited with a security and finance company in Cote d' ivoire under a secret arrangement as a family treasure. This means that the security company does not know the content of this box that was shipped from the Philippine to Cote d' ivoire under a diplomatic coverage.

Recently l Fell Sick and my Doctor told me that from all the test conducted on my health, I am not going to last long, expecially, due to my Lungs cancer and heart complication. Having known my condition, I decided to donate this fund to churches/Christian bodies/individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct. I want a church or individual that will use this money to fund churches, Orphanages and Widows. Also, the propagation of the work of God, building and maintaining the house of God through this money, VERY IMPORTANT.

I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians and they have inherited all my late Husband Properties because l couldn't bear them a Child. I don't want my husband's hard earned money to be misused by unbelievers, for their own selfish interest and in an ungodly manner. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bossom of the Lord. Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace.

I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health, and because of the presence of my husband's relatives around me sometimes. I don't want them to know about this development, but I know that With God all things are possible. As soon as I receive your reply in my next mail I shall give you the contact of the Security and finance company in Ivory coast and the Authorization Certificate which is the Certificate of deposit that they gave me on the day of deposit to enable you call them and give them your address for the immediate shipment of the box to you as the original- beneficiary of this fund.

I want you and your church to always pray for me that God should give me opportunties to touch more lives in this last days. My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Who ever that wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life. Any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing for a church or christian individual for this same purpose.

Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein.Hoping to hear from you soon.Indicate your intrest.Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.Yours in Christ,
Mrs Dalisay Bayani
